Veterans Day Events in AASD Schools
Posted on 10/31/2018
Veterans Day has a very important purpose: to celebrate and to honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

Many of our AASD schools have ceremonies and events involving students, families, community members, and veterans to recognize Veterans Day.

East High School, 2121 E. Emmers Dr. Appleton, WI 54915
East will be holding a ceremony Friday, November 9th. We have a gauntlet starting at 8 a.m. for all Veterans. The ceremony starts shortly after. Reception at 9:15 in the commons.

Einstein Middle School, 324 E. Florida Ave. Appleton, WI 54911
Einstein Middle School’s Veterans Day tribute entitled “World War I: A Centennial Commemoration.” It is the result of many hours of planning and collaboration among the Social Studies and Music departments.

This is the fifteenth year that the students have honored Veterans through a formal program. Each year grandfathers, grandmothers, fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, and neighbors who have served attend this event. Last year we were host to approximately 200 Veterans.  Our students are also participating in a Vet-a-thon Knowledge Bowl to raise money for the Northeast Wisconsin Old Glory Honor Flight Network.

Preceding the program, we will be serving a free breakfast to Veterans in our multipurpose room starting at 7:30 a.m. We also will be hosting a Veterans Panel Discussion in our auditorium immediately following the program. All Veterans who would like to stay and talk to our 8th-grade student body about their service are invited to attend the panel discussion.
