Celebrating Manufacturing Month in the AASD
Posted on 10/29/2021
It's been a busy October in our high school Launch Studios! We've been celebrating Manufacturing Month through events in our Launch Studios and through field trips to area manufacturing events. ⚙️🔩🧰💻🗜💽

In October, our Launch Studios held events with:
SD Wheel, Pierce Mfg, Amcor Packaging, Neenah Foundry, C3, Appvion, Crystal Print, GNC Great Northern, and Gulf stream

Students were able to visit the Northeast Wisconsin Manufacturing Coalition Event and the NEWMA Manufacturing First Expo and Conference where they met representatives from Ariens, Georgia Pacific, Miller Electric, New Hydraulics, Fincantieri Marinette Marine, Körber, and more.

They had hands-on experiences, using welding equipment, learning about cycle time and quality improvement for a process with lawnmowers built out of legos, and using Computer Assisted Design (CAD) and Computer Assisted Manufacturing software to determine specifications/directions for bending metal for product development. They were able to use a strobe light device for quality inspection of a machine while in operation and used ultrasound to measure the inside of pipes to determine buildup/corrosion.

If your student especially enjoyed the opportunities this month, they may be interested in Appleton Technical Academy or Tesla Engineering Charter School.
