Schools are able to apply for recognition each year in any or all of the following areas: reading, mathematics, or behavior. There are two levels of recognition awarded; Schools of Merit implement elements of the Wisconsin RtI framework with integrity.

Schools of Distinction sustain these elements for at least two years and are using disaggregated student-level data to inform implementation.
