Superintendent Search

The Appleton Area School District Board of Education has begun the search process for a new superintendent who will begin duties on July 1, 2017.

Superintendent Profile
The New Superintendent Profile will guide us in the selection process. The New Superintendent Profile is based on input from the community regarding the District’s strengths, challenges, and the desired characteristics of the next superintendent. Findings from the survey and community input will be compiled and reported to the Board on March 20 and are available below:

We thank AASD staff, students and the community for their candid feedback through the public survey, focus groups and our community forum.


The Board has selected SCHOOL EXEC CONNECT, an educational search firm, to assist with the superintendent search. The first step in this process is to create a New Superintendent Profile, using information gathered from interviews, focus groups, a community forum and an online survey.

The superintendent position will be advertised and candidates will be recruited from February 27 to March 27, 2017. On April 4, the Board and consultants will meet to review and select candidates to be initially interviewed. The Board will interview four to six recommended candidates on April 10 and will select finalists. Each finalist will be invited for an all-day interview on April 17.

An advisory committee consisting of staff, parents, and community members will conduct interviews. The Board will then conduct the final interviews and select the next superintendent. The new superintendent contract will be approved in late April or early May.
